This week the Easter bunny dropped off baskets of eggs to the first grade classrooms! When the eggs hatched there were peeps inside that the students needed to take care of for three days. The students were responsible for taking care of their peeps by getting babysitters when they needed to leave the classrooms and taking their peeps home each night and back to school in the morning! The students had to fill out birth certificates and baby books for their peeps. The Easter bunny is coming back today to pick up the peeps and leave prizes for anyone who took care of their peeps!

The students in Art 3 have officially finished the ODOT plow for the Paint the Plow Contest, and it looks amazing!

These talented young ladies put in a lot of time, creativity, and hard work to bring their design to life, and we couldn’t be more proud of the final result. They did an outstanding job representing Hardin Northern with their artistic skills. Pictured left to right- Kiley Preston, Rayne Frater, Lexi Oakley, Morgan Stewart, Taelyn Egbert, and Mya Whitaker.

The contest will take place in the coming months, and we will be sure to let everyone know when it’s time to vote for the HN plow. Stay tuned — and great job to these ladies on an incredible piece of work!

It’s definitely April Fool’s Day at Hardin Northern! 🤪

There was a little confusion in the first grade today when a new substitute teacher showed up — Mrs. Huber filling in for Mrs. Hackworth! The students weren’t quite sure what was going on at first, and honestly some of them are still trying to figure it out! There have been lots of confused looks, plenty of laughs, and we're not even sure where Mrs. Hackworth is today.

Between the classroom switch-up and a few other tricks happening around the school, there have been plenty of laughs today. It’s safe to say the Polar Bears are enjoying a little April Fool’s fun! 🎉🐻‍❄️

This week, the Full Day preschool class began learning about fairytales. The students spent the week exploring the story "The Three Little Pigs." They had a wonderful time building the different houses and bringing the story to life through reenactment activities.

Hardin Northern high school STEM had the opportunity to tour GROB's manufacturing facility in Bluffton. We learned about the machines that they make to build other things as well as the apprenticeship program that GROB offers as a career path after high school. It was a good morning to see what opportunities are available in our area.

We’re proud to highlight River Guinn and Alex Gatchell and their Passion Project as part of their Agricultural Education coursework!

Through this project, they focused on exploring real-world career opportunities and helping other students learn about life beyond school. River and Alex organized a trip to a local job fair held at the Kenton Fairgrounds Community Building, where they took a group of students to experience it firsthand.

While there, students had the opportunity to interact with around 20 different companies, each sharing information about their businesses, career paths, and current job openings. It was a great chance for our students to ask questions, make connections, and start thinking about their future goals.

Throwback Thursday!

Today’s throwback comes from the 1955 Northern Lites, featuring that year’s senior class and their senior play, Beauty and the Beef. What a fun glimpse into the past and the traditions that have helped shape Hardin Northern over the years!

It’s always great to look back and see the memories, creativity, and school spirit that have been part of our history for generations.

As part of his agricultural education coursework, student Hunter Ewing recently completed a meaningful Passion Project that brought learning to life for some of the school’s youngest students.

Hunter partnered with kindergarten classes to explore the importance of trees and the connections between nature and human life. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, kindergarten students learned how trees grow, change, and adapt over time, much like people do throughout their lives.

The project culminated in a special planting event, where Hunter and the kindergarten classes worked together to plant a tree in front of the school. The tree will serve as a living symbol of growth, reminding students of the lessons they learned and providing a lasting connection to their school experience.

As the kindergarteners continue their journey through school, they will be able to watch the tree grow alongside them, serving as a powerful representation of change, development, and the impact of hands-on learning.

Hunter’s project not only reinforced agricultural concepts but also created a memorable experience that will benefit students for years to come.
