Hardin County Fair was a success for HN FFA members
Written by: Ellie Curlis, reporter

Last week many members from the Hardin Northern FFA chapter showed animals and entered projects into the Hardin County Fair. Every member that participated in the fair this year worked really hard all year round to enter the best projects and make sure their animals were in the best condition. This year the Hardin Northern FFA had 18 members represent them by showing animals at the fair. Every member did very well, but there were some individuals that really went above and beyond this year.

Katie Good exhibited the Reserve Champion Born and Raised goat, bred by Rodabaugh Farms. Clay Rager got first place in winter yearling class, received Junior champion female, and got second place for 4 year old female in both the Open and Junior Show. He also was senior champion for a female cow in the open show and had an honorable mention Brown Swiss female in the Junior Show. Zeb Wilson showed market lambs, and was awarded with the Champion Rate of Gain Lamb.

Brenna Flowers got first place in class 4 barrows and class 9 born and raised hog. As well as doing very well in showing her hogs at the fair, Brenna was selected to be the 2021 Hardin County Fair Queen. When asked what her favorite part about being Queen this year at the fair was, she responded, “I really enjoyed talking to everyone and getting to meet new people. I loved when little kids came up to me and asked questions or needed help with something because they were so excited to be talking to me.”

As well as Brenna representing Hardin Northern as the 2021 fair queen, Alyssa Heldman was this year's Dairy Beef Feeder Queen. At the fair this year she really enjoyed showing her dairy beef feeders, and was very happy about getting crowned as the Dairy Beef Feeder Queen.

Along with all of the individuals representing our FFA by showing animals at the fair, many of the FFA members entered string art boards or benches. Additionally, Kylee Legge, Bella Wilson, Kennedy Hall, Alyssa Helman, Ava Hopson, Katie Good, and Brenna Flowers all worked really hard this year on the Junior Fair Board to make the fair great for everyone that entered a project or came to visit. Overall, the fair was really fun this year, and the FFA members are already preparing to do great at the fair again next year!
