The junior high and high school will be taking Part I of the English state test for English 7, English 8, and English 10 on Tuesday, April 8 and Part II on Thursday, April 10.
Buses will be running at normal time, but grades 7-12 will follow a 2 hour delay schedule meaning that those students testing need to be in their test room at 8:20 and will have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the day's test. 1st period will start at 10:20.
Please bring your charged chromebook, something to write with, and something to do if you finish the test early like homework or reading a book.
Students that do NOT have a test to take do not need to be here until 1st period at 10:20 but will need to provide their own transportation if coming then. If a student needs to ride the bus, please report to the cafeteria for study hall from 8:20 to 10 am.

Members of the HN Library Unplugged Club volunteered to read with 2nd grade students from Miss Jettinghoff's class. The kids enjoyed their time reading together!

Thank you to our volunteer, Mrs. Mary Humphrey, for coming to HN each week to give our students some extra help with math! Mrs. Humphrey is a retired teacher and member of the HN Class of 1977.

Haidn is the latest kindergarten student to read 100 sight words. Nice work, Haidn!

Elementary students show off their March Madness Reading Challenge prizes! Students earned raffle tickets for reading during the month of March and prize-winners earned books, posters, and basketballs. Thank you to the Hardin County Community Foundation and Wilson Football Factory for supporting our library!

Way to go Bears! ⚾

If you have heard or seen any strange activities around the History room in the past few weeks, it's just a World History PBL taking place. Students are trying to make plans for "How to teach others about the culture and events of the French Revolution".
So, welcome to "Vive La France" - A trip back in time to a French revolution living history experience. Student have been busy working on 3D Puzzles representing the french culture over the years - The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Mont Saint Michel, and Chateau de Chennonceau. They are also busy working on historical characters to protray and figuring out how to dress in period clothing or at least make it look like it is period clothing.
Vie la France!

It's March so that must mean it is time again for Pop Madness! There was no Pop Culture class this year so our streak of annual Pop Madness nearly came to an end. Thanks to Mr. T's suggestion and some student energy from the Government Class we would like to present Pop Madness 2025: Historical Movie Edition.
Students researched over 120 different historical films before narrowing the list down to 64 films broken into four categories: Ancient World, Age of Expansion, World at War, and Modern World. Just one word of caution - although all of these are incredible historical movies, many contain adult themes, harsh language, and depictions of horrific actions so we are NOT listing any movies as a recommendation for children to watch.
Here is our Mystery Judge for Pop Madness 2025: I’m a 45-year-old middle school history teacher from central Ohio who loves a good history flick. My favorite time periods in American history are the Founding, the Civil War, and World War II, but lately, I’ve been reading a lot about Irish immigration and NYC’s historic 5 Points. When watching a historical movie, I’m looking for a mixture of historical accuracy and cinematography. It’s okay if the movie doesn’t get everything right as long as it sticks to the basic premise and is fun to watch.
Some classic shows that did not make our list included Roots, Band of Brothers, John Adams, Shogun, The Pacific, and M*A*S*H. Each of these was either a TV miniseries or in the case of M*A*S*H we felt the film was overshadowed by the TV series. Some tough opening round matchups include Unbroken vs. Hacksaw Ridge, Sergeant York vs. Saving Private Ryan, Red Dawn vs Platoon, and Hamilton vs. Titanic.
Who is your favorite to win it all?

Congratulations Kruz!

Good luck Bears!
