I send my greetings from the desk of the superintendent of your local school. I am the new (old) superintendent at the school, replacing Mr. Doug Roberts following his retirement at the end of July. I say new (old) superintendent be- cause I was previously the superintendent in this district from 2005 – 2007. For those who may not know me I am a Hardin Northern graduate (class of 1980) and a lifelong resident in the district. My wife Theresa (class of 1980) and I have been married for 33 years, we have 3 grown children who are also HN graduates and 5 grandchildren, the oldest of which is a first grader here at Hardin Northern.
Since leaving the district I have served as the superintendent both in the Delphos City Schools and at the Ohio Hi- Point Career Center in Bellefontaine. In addition to this experience I have pursued and earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership from Ashland University. These experiences and additional training have helped me to hone my professional skills to facilitate the educational growth needed for our students to compete in the global market- place.
To this end I have organized and developed a planning process that involves Hardin County leaders, members of the Hardin Northern school community, parents of students, administrators, and teachers. The object of bringing all of these people together is to discuss and learn from each other in order to help direct the future educational programs for the district. I am committed to this process for the development of a learning community and the creation of a plan that brings both rigor and relevance to our educational community. I have included at the bottom of this article a list of teams and meeting dates. If you are interested in helping to shape our future and make a difference in the lives of the young people we serve please contact me about participation on one of the committees.
All meetings are scheduled to be held in the cafeteria. Please consider being a part of the future of the Hardin North- ern Local School District.
In general, if you have questions, comments, or suggestions about ways to improve the school please contact me via email at jeff.price@hardinnorthern.org or call me at 419-759-2331 extension 1210.
In concluding my portion of this newsletter, I am reminded that the holiday season will soon be upon us. On behalf of the Hardin Northern staff, students, administration, and Board of Education we wish all of you the very best for the coming holidays. Please remember in this busy time of the year, the people in our lives are an important part of our existence. Maintaining these relationships and building traditions with family and friends are the real gifts of the sea- son. My wish is that you will have the opportunity to do both in the coming weeks.
God bless,
Jeff
