Hardin Northern High School will hold its 2021 commencement on May 23 at 2 pm.  Four of the 29 graduating seniors have been selected as Honor Court graduates.  Each of these students has maintained a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and will receive an Honor Court medallion at the commencement.

Lance Thomas Good is the son of Brent and Jennie Good. He currently has a 3.92 GPA and plans to attend Ohio Northern University majoring in Finance. In high school, Lance has been a member of the Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track teams for four years, earning All-Conference and All-State accolades.  He has been enrolled in FFA for four years, serving as President of the chapter for two years.  He was also inducted into National Honor Society as a Senior. Lance has received Elk’s Teen of the Month for November, Elk’s Volunteer of the Year for Hardin Northern, Hardin Northern’s Most Valuable Offensive Lineman Award four times, and the Polar Bear Award in basketball.  In FFA, he has earned his Greenhand and Chapter degrees.  Lance was named the Kenton Elks Teen Volunteer of the Year.  He has also received an Ohio Northern University Trustee Scholarship, ONU Legacy Scholarship, Elks Teen Volunteer of the Year Scholarship, Dunkirk Garden Club Alice Minter Scholarship, HN FFA Scholarship, HN FFA Alumni Scholarship, Bonnie McBride Memorial Scholarship, Lotz Family Scholarship, and a Hardin Northern Community Scholarship.

Madison Mae Grappy is the daughter of Josh and Denise Grappy. She has maintained a 3.76 GPA throughout her high school career, while being a very involved student on and off the court throughout her school years. In high school, Maddie was a leader on the girls basketball team for 4 years, accomplishing many goals, including reaching her 1000 point milestone this season. She also played softball for 3 years along with volleyball for 2 years. Maddie served on the FFA officer team for three years as Student Advisor and Vice President.  She is also the President of the Student Council. Maddie was recently inducted into the National Honor Society and has been a student helper for Mrs. Mast’s 3rd grade this year along with being a peer tutor in the high school. She plans to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing. Over the years, Maddie has received various awards, including the October Elks Teen of the Month, NWCC Academic All Conference, Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year for 4 straight years, along with NWCC 1st team for 3 years.  She is the recipient of a BGSU Choice Scholarship, University Freshman Scholarship, Dunkirk Garden Club Alice Minter Scholarship, HN FFA Scholarship, Lotz Family Scholarship, and a Hardin Northern Community Scholarship.

Gabrielle (Gabbi) Elise Hackworth is the daughter of Todd and Nicole Hackworth.  She currently has a 3.5 GPA and plans to attend Rhodes State College and major in Dental Hygiene. In high school, Gabbi has been involved in volleyball for four years and her senior year was a captain of the team.  She got the Volleyball Polar Bear award at the 2020 Fall Sports Banquet and got NWCC Honorable Mention. Gabbi played softball for two years and got the Polar Bear Award her sophomore year.  She did track for one year and FFA for two years.  Gabbi got top chicken BBQ sales her senior year in FFA.  Gabbi has also been involved in 10 musicals at Hardin Northern.  Her very first one was in kindergarten. She is also a part of the yearbook staff.  She received Elks Teen of the Month for the month of March.  Gabbi worked for the Village of Dunkirk and Blanchard Township last summer. She now works at ACE Hardware in Kenton.

Lucas Val Wilson is the son of Andy and Darlene Wilson.  He has maintained a 4.0 GPA for his high school career and plans to attend Grace College majoring in Environmental Science.  In high school, Luke has been involved in basketball, baseball, cross country, FCA, FFA, marching band, concert band, pep band, musical, and was inducted into the National Honor Society.  He has earned NWCC All-Academic Honors, NWCC Honorable Mention in basketball, and Most Improved and Polar Bear Awards in basketball and cross country. He served as Treasurer of the FFA and earned their Distinguished Member Award. He is a member of the Kenton Alliance Church Youth Group and works for Beulah Beach Christian Camp.  He was named the Kenton Elks Male Teen of the Year, and he has earned the following scholarships:  Hardin County Farm Bureau Walter Oates Scholarship, Dunkirk Garden Club Alice Minter Scholarship, HN FFA Alumni Scholarship, HN FFA Scholarship, Bonnie McBride Memorial Scholarship, Lewis and Ruth Rader Scholarship, Jeb Bowman Memorial Scholarship, Lotz Family Scholarship, AGR Young Leaders Scholarship, Ohio Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship, Kenton Elks Male Teen of the Year Scholarship, Grace College Academic Scholarship, Grace College Achievement Scholarship, and a Hardin Northern Community Scholarship.
