Sixth graders at Hardin Northern learned about Mesopotamia by creating their own city-states. Students worked in groups to prove their civilization had evidence of a government, religion, art, written language, technology, social classes, and a stable food supply.

On October 17th a select group of juniors joined Mr. Foster as they visited the National Air Force Museum on the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. These sixteen student earned the field trip as a reward for their high scores on their State End of Course exam for American History the previous spring. While at the museum the students completed a photo scavenger hunt and explored exhibits focusing such famous events as the homecoming of Vietnam War POWs and Pearly Harbor.

Most students singled out the newly opened Presidential Gallery as their favorite.  Of particular interest was the retired Air Force One that served eight different presidents. Students could walk inside and see where Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office and even see where the casket that held John Kennedy’s body was transported after his assassination. Located nearby Air Force One was the C-141 flown by our Veterans Day guest speaker Vern Hansen during his time in the Air Forces.
