On November 10th, Mrs. Klir and a group of FCCLA members attended the district meeting at Findlay Presbyterian Church. To start the day off, district officers conducted the opening meeting. Each school present, which included Kenton, Bluffton, Spencerville, and Cory-Rawson, and Hardin Northern, selected two members to be district officers. Hardin Northern’s representatives were Catherine McMillion and Lexi Garmon.
In the morning, students attended four different sessions with various topics. Some sessions dealt with the dangers of social media while others were geared towards FCCLA facts or cooking. Senior Lydia Rush said, “I liked the Life Size Monopoly because it got you up and moving and I felt good because I knew most of the answers to the FCCLA questions.”
After the sessions, all in attendance got to enjoy lunch followed by the closing ceremony and main speaker. This year Siobhonne Ward, an assistant prosecutor for Hardin County, presented a speech about sexting and the consequences caused by sexting. The presentation was very informative for all the teens.
All in all, this year’s district meeting was a great experience for all FCCLA members who attended. Students learned about many topics that will prove to be very important in their futures.
