Dual sport athletes are very valuable at small schools such as Hardin Northern. They help to keep sports at HN alive by participating in more than one sport at the same time while also adding one more body to the roster. Having that one extra player added to the team can help bring more positivity and confidence to the team knowing that their teammate is dedicated and strong enough to be involved in multiple sports at once.

For Fall Sports this year, HN has three athletes participating in dual sports. Nick Bame (a senior) and Eli Cooper (a freshman) both are involved in football and cross country. Francesca Bejarano (also a freshman) is involved in cross country and volleyball here at HN.

“I feel very fortunate to have the option to do two sports at once. I love football, but I really want to run cross country in order to stay in shape for track. It can be kind of stressful and tiring at times, but I love to compete and this allows me to do it with two different sports at the same time,” Nick Bame said.

“It is a lot of hard work and dedication, but I do it because it’s what I love to do. I’m glad I go to a school that lets me do more than one sport at once,” Francesca Bejarano said.

Being a dual sport athlete takes a lot of time and hard work to juggle double the amount of practices and games along with the many stresses school has to offer. We know one thing for sure, dual sport athletes not only have great work ethics and attitudes, they also have a unique and special appreciation for hard work.
